The alleged videos surfaced just before voting and sparked debate. Prajwal Revanna had completely denied his involvement and claimed that it was a conspiracy against him. Meanwhile, BJP, which is contesting elections in alliance with JDS in Karnataka, has distanced itself from this controversy.

More than a thousand video clips went viral. Acting on the letter of the Women’s Commission, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that alleged obscene video clips are being circulated in Hassan district. The Chief Minister said that the SIT has been formed following a letter written by the Karnataka Women Commission chief to the state government. He further said that the police had informed him that Prajwal Revanna had gone abroad.

The Congress-led Karnataka government has constituted a SIT in the case of Prajwal Revanna, the sitting MP from Hassan and JDS candidates from this seat. An FIR has been registered against Deve Gowda’s MLA son HD Revanna and MP grandson Prajwal Revanna in the sexual harassment case. This FIR has been registered on the complaint of his cook. What are the allegations?

The maid working at Revanna’s house has lodged an FIR. She has accused HD Revanna and his son Prajwal of sexual exploitation.

In this case, the police registered a case under IPC sections 354 (A) (sexual harassment), 354 (D) (stalking), 506 (intimidating) and 509 (insulting the dignity of a woman by speech or gestures).

The victim is a resident of Holenarasipur. Her husband HD works as a laborer in Revanna’s milk dairy. It is claimed that the victim is a relative of HD Revanna’s wife Bhavani.

In her complaint, she said that in 2019, she was called to work during the wedding of Revanna’s son Suraj Revanna. She has been working here since then. He alleges that Revanna kept calling him to the room. There were six more female employees there. All the women were scared when Prajwal Revanna came home. The male employees working in the house had asked to be careful.

He has alleged that when Revanna’s wife was not there, he used to call her to the store room and touch her here and there on the pretext of giving her fruits. They used to remove the pins of the saree and sexually assault her.

According to the FIR, when the women were working in the kitchen, Prajwal would come and hug them from behind and punch them on the stomach. The woman has claimed that Prajwal used to make video calls to her daughter and tried to flirt with her. After which his daughter blocked Prajwal’s number.

The victim says that recently the videos of alleged sexual exploitation of Prajwal Revanna have gone viral, seeing which she was scared. The husband also started doubting and was afraid what would happen if our video also came out.

How did the scandal come out in front of the public?

Before the elections, serious allegations were made against the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. A woman has leveled serious allegations of sexual harassment against former Prime Minister’s grandson and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.

A BJP leader in Karnataka has claimed that he wrote to the state party president in December 2023 saying that he had found a pen drive with around 3,000 videos of sexual acts of women, including government officials, and alleged that the Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna has used it. Footage has also been found of blackmailing women into participating in such activities.

Who wrote a letter to the state president?

In his letter to BJP state president BY Vijayendra dated December 8, 2023, Devaraje Gowda, who was the party’s Holenarsipura candidate in the 2023 assembly elections, said, “There are serious allegations against several leaders of the HD Deve Gowda family, including Prajwal Revanna .

Devaraje Gowda said the pen drive contained a total of 2,976 videos and some of the women shown in the footage were government officials. The videos were being used “to blackmail them into engaging in sexual activities”. The BJP leader further claimed that another pen drive containing these videos and photographs has reached the national leaders of the Congress.

Devaraje Gowda said in his letter, “If we form an alliance with JD(S) and if we nominate a JD(S) candidate in Hassan for the Lok Sabha elections, then these videos will be viewed as weapon can be used as, and we will be tainted as one. How did Sharanagouda Kandakur react to the allegations?
